President of the United Nations General Assembly visits the UN House in Kuwait
The President of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Vuk Jeremić, visited the United Nations House in Kuwait. Mr. Jeremić was greeted by UNDP Resident Representative a.i., Mr. Stein R. Hansen, and members of the Country Team upon his arrival.
Mr. Stein R. Hansen noted: “Mr. Vuk Jeremić’s visit is a great opportunity for our Country Team to meet and greet one of the prominent figures in the United Nations and to exchange dialogue regarding the development issues facing Kuwait, including the strides in the road and the progress the UNDP has made on a national level throughout the years. We look forward to working together in the future to ensure development and advancements in our collective work.”
Mr. Jeremić said: "Thank you so much for the great hospitality. I feel very much a part of this family. This is a place I like visiting very much. I am very pleased to be here."
The Deputy Prime Minster and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-
Sabah along with several Foreign Ministry officials received Mr. Jeremić at Kuwait International Airport earlier in the day on the occasion of this official visit to the State of Kuwait.
Mr. Vuk Jeremić also met with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jabir Al-Sabah, during his trip to the country. The visit is set to continue and maintain dialogue concerning bilateral relations including a number of official meetings pertinent to Kuwait’s participation in UNGA.
Mr. Vuk Jeremić’s visit to Kuwait comes after attending the UN Climate Change Conference (COP-18) in Doha, Qatar where he asserted that the event presents an opportunity to prevent climate challenges from spiraling out control in this day and age.
