The aim of this workshop was to enhance the national awareness and to support Kuwaiti cultural experts, government officials and representatives of concerned institutions in the field of culture and provide them with necessary tools to assist them enhance capacities related to the prevention and fight against the smuggling of cultural property. It also supported developing networks at the national and regional levels to ensure general awareness of the dramatic negative consequences of smuggling cultural properties on community’s heritage and on the people’s cultural identity.

The workshop was organized by the UNESCO Regional office for the GCC and Yemen, in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD), the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) and UNDP Kuwait.
